FFmpeg is a complete, cross-platform open source solution to record, convert and stream audio and video. It is the reference software in the industry, used by the largest companies in the world and managed by the most talented video compression expert engineers. The official website of the software that contains the documentation and all the business information was a very important element in its life, but the overall design lacked modernism, at it hadn't been updated since years. db0 volunteered to completely remake this website and use modern front-end technologies to modernize the design, give it some energy, make it appealing and professional-looking. db0 worked closely with the core maintainers of the project in order to understand and follow their vision of the product. The maintainers also had a very basic visual identity in mind that they wanted to keep: the black and green colors as well as the zigzag logo which is a visual representation of a video compression algorithm. db0 used these elements as a base to create a clear and clean visual identity that would be used uniformly everywhere. The maintainers also insisted on keeping a very simple deployment architecture that could run easily on very old servers, so though the front-end technologies used were very modern, the back-end mostly consisted in a very complex `Makefile` and some `C` programs automatically generating HTML files and updating the generated documentation files. - **Technologies used**: Bootstrap, FontAwesome, Bower, jQuery, LESS. - [Old website before db0's work](http://i.imgur.com/EJ8F64u.png) (for comparison)
